Southwest Calgary Hot Water Service & Repair
Highmark Plumbing has your Southwest Calgary hot water service & repair. In general, hot water heaters come in two types: those with tanks and those without. The water heaters with tanks are far more common than those without, yet each has its application.
Water heaters that have tanks are more likely to operate at optimal efficiency if they have periodic service visits. These often include flushing out the tank to remove calcification and sludge that can take up space inside the tank, thereby diminishing the efficiency of the water heater. Water heaters with tanks also have an anode rod, which attracts the acetic elements in the heated water. This process diminishes the likelihood that the acids developing in the heated water will pit and erode the lining of the tank. Another area that often needs servicing is the safety valves and safety plugs. Sometimes the plastic or rubber in these devices can become old and hard and be less likely to operate properly. Calibrating the thermostat is another part of hot water heater service, and as is checking the heating device to make sure that it is operating properly. If the water is heated with a gas burner, then it is also important to make sure that the thermo couple and the pilot light or electronic igniter are working properly. It is also a good idea to check for gas leaks at the same time.
