GFCI Outlet Installation & Replacement
Keep your family safe with GFCI outlets that help protect people
from potential electrical shock.
A GFCI Outlet is needed in areas where the risk of electrical shock is high.
Often found in kitchens and bathrooms, along with other areas in your home where the risk of electrical shock is increased due to a power outlet’s proximity to water. A GFCI or ground fault circuit interrupter outlet is the ideal way to protect against the risk of electrical shock. In addition to the increased safety it provides, installing GFCI outlets also will bring your home up to the current standards established by the Canadian Electrical Code.
These special outlets can be easily identified by locating the ‘test’ and ‘reset’ buttons which are right on the front of the outlet. The outlet itself is modified to monitor the electrical current flowing from the receptacle to whatever device you may be using at the time. If there is a sudden surge or imbalance in power caused by any number of issues, the GFCI outlet will immediately stop the flow of power. This prevents electrical shock that can potentially lead to serious or fatal injuries.

A GFCI Outlet is an electrical outlet that includes ground fault circuit interrupters. This type of outlet help to protect you and your family from electrical hazards like shock. They come with TEST and RESET buttons. When the outlet detects a problem with the electricity the outlet receiving power is immediately cut off.
When ground fault circuit interrupters stop power from going to the attached devices, press the RESET button to restore the flow of electricity. These outlets are more reliable than your circuit breakers to stop power to keep you safe. Due to how sensitive the outlets are, they can detect the smallest variations in the electrical current. It is recommended to test the outlets monthly.
If your GFCI Outlet does not perform as above, the outlet needs to be replaced.
