Asbestos

From the 1930 to early in the 1980s, asbestos was widely used due to its resistance to fire, sound and head.  Unfortunately, asbestos is a very dangerous if its fibers are inhaled or swallowed.  Victims have been diagnosed with several deadly illnesses such as mesothelioma, COPD and cancer.

Asbestos was widely used in several industries like:

Residential and Commercial Building
Construction Materials
Aircraft Construction
Helicopter Construction
Automobile Construction
Ship Construction

Fortunately, scientific improvements have led to the discovery of the relationship between asbestos and the health risks. A naturally occurring mineral  that is composed of soft and flexible fibers that are resistant to heat, electricity and corrosion. These qualities make asbestos useful, but they also make exposure to it highly toxic.

Asbestos is a extremely effective insulator, and can also be used in cloth, paper, cement, plastic and other materials to increase their strength. When asbestos dust is inhaled or ingested, mineral fibers can become trapped in the body.

Over time, usually decades, trapped asbestos fibers can cause inflammation, scarring and eventually genetic damage. A rare  cancer called mesothelioma is almost exclusively caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is also known to cause other forms of cancer as well as progressive lung disease
